Our client is a unique start-up based in South Dublin. For their ambitious research combining genetics and bioinformatics, they are seeking skilled Bioinformaticians.
Duties and Responsibilities
To work efficiently as a team member, with a start-up mentality, the ability to work occasionally on short-term projects, with different people, with different roles, across a broad range of functions. To collaborate in the the strategic scientific development. To provide input to the scientific approaches used. To implement and optimize algorithms for use by the company and the genomics community. To work with scientists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, software engineers, systems analysts and clinical team members to develop, test and improve new genomic analysis techniques. To ensure team data analysis complies with company and international analysis and quality standards.
Essential Requirements
·PhD in Bioinformatics or Genomics or
·BSc/MSc/PhD in Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics
·2+ years of relevant experience including some:
·Knowledge of analysis of genetic causes of disease
·Knowledge of statistical genetics
·Knowledge of Bioinformatics and big data analysis
Advantageous Technical Expertise
Some of the following:
·Genomic analysis packages such as PLINK, Admixture, Eigensoft, NGSQC, DNAnexus, Ingenuity, Pathway Analysis software, BWA, GATK, SAMtools, ANNOVAR, Peddy
·R, Python, Perl, C++, JavaScript
·Bioconductor, Biopython, NumPy, SciPy, pandas
·Databases and libraries such as PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark
·Cloud high-performance compute with AWS/GCP
·Machine Learning such as MLlib, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow
