Our client is recognised as a global leader within the medical device industry. They are looking for a Design Engineer to join their Research & Development team at their headquarters in Galway. The role will involve working at the forefront of developing their portfolio of exciting and innovative new medical device products.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Working on all elements of Research & Development of projects, for example from concept generation through to design verification.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in the development of intellectual property generated through the Research & Development activities.
  • Implementing leading and cutting edge technologies to provide the optimum design solution.
  • Designing concepts and prototypes in advance of selecting the most promising solution to take into Design Freezing.
  • Carrying out Design Freeze & Design Verification testing in accordance documented plans and protocols
  • Supporting the Project Manager in liaison with Creganna’s network of Key Opinion Leaders to provide clinically relevant feedback on product designs.
  • Liaising with the customer to optimise product design.

Skills/Experience:
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years industry experience in medical device sector
  • The ability to demonstrate product design and development experience, including experience of design review and quality procedures.
  • Display range of Research & Development skills in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Experience of compiling FEMA’s and conducting verifications and validations for medical devices products and processes.
  • Excellent understanding and experience of engineering tools, such as DOE and SPC
  • Experience using Minitab
  • Experience of development of test methods and associated product testing.
  • Display an understanding of polymer materials and selection in medical device design is an advantage.
