We’re currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a start-up biopharmaceutical project with an organization based in Cork.

Role, Key Responsibilities Accountabilities and Duties

  • Provide technical expertise and analytical support for the development of encapsulated vaccines and other medical preparations for oral administration
  • Provide technical leadership to resolve process and analytical technical challenges anticipated during the development, validation/qualification and transfer of encapsulated vaccines and associated analytical method development
  • Plan, and execute experiments in partnership with colleagues and collaborators
  • Collect and interpret analytical data while ensuring proper documentation of experimental data is adhered to
  • Develop/Expand scientific, technical knowledge by reading the peer reviewed scientific literature, attending scientific conferences and via relevant training.
  • Lead the development of new, innovative analytical methods as well as improvement and optimization of current methods.
  • Communicate regularly with collaborating partners, providing updates on projects progress, hosting visits, addressing technical queries and delivering project requirements to the defined timelines.
  • Prepare client project proposals inclusive of timeline, budget etc.
  • Ensure the delivery of development projects in the required timeframe according to the agreed project plan.
  • Represent company at high level project review meetings both on site and at collaborator.
  • Present scientific findings via conferences/expositions and scientific/lay publications
  • In collaboration with the R&D Director, manage interactions with collaborators and provide regular updates

Education & Experience :
  • Relevant qualification, preferably PhD in Pharmaceutical Science or other relevant scientific subject area
  • Approx. 3-5 years industry experience in R&D and Product Development.
  • Experience in micro-encapsulation science is an advantage


Person Specification
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and innovatively combined with willingness to challenge.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication with the ability to work with cross functional teams with collaborative communication skills to engage with employees and clients at all levels.
  • Knowledge and experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing and chemical development environment and an understanding of the drug development process is desirable.
  • Demonstrated core laboratory skills and expertise in various wet chemistry and analytical techniques such as spectroscopy and chromatography techniques, with an excellent understanding of the relevance of the data generated.
  • Strong hands-on capabilities (ability to work independently to solve current problems/issues); and experience of working in a regulated environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes
  • Need to be flexible, confident, energetic and enthusiastic
  • The ability to plan effectively, meet deadlines and work productively
  • Perform duties diligently and faithfully in a proper and lawful manner
