Our client is an exciting start-up providing technology testing platforms for various industries. Reporting to the CEO, this role covers a maternity leave. This is a superb opportunity to join the team on a 12-month contract. There are strong opportunities for follow-on opportunities for the successful individual, as the company have firm expansion plans.
o Pivotally involved in all aspects of the development of the assay from a technology perspective – including - instrumentation; system hardware, software and peripherals; identification of and improvements to selective growth media and controls; project-related research and development, and optimising system components for subsequent commercialisation.
o Providing scientific and operational inputs to the trails at customer sites
o Management of all technology transfer from incumbent personnel and systems into a best practise curation of knowledge and information surrounding the project, in-house.
o Documentation of all test results; analysis of technical data and generation of technical reports and advisories, as appropriate.
o In conjunction with external consultants (and personnel from company partners) to manage the development, optimisation, calibration and validation of microbial growth curve convergence.
o Manage and drive product improvement/design change projects, including the pursuit of appropriate industry recognised accreditation of the assay
o Provide support and guidance to internal departments, with respect to product maintenance and support; failure investigation; problem resolution/ corrective action implementation, when required.
o Validation of excel templates for use in value assignment or other technical data analysis
o Management of routine Laboratory maintenance.
o Stock control/maintenance in line with department budget plans.
o Adherence to Laboratory health and safety requirements. Adherence to quality standards.
o Equipment calibration/maintenance.
o Procedural review and update as required.
o Supporting QA in the internal audit programme.
o Other duties that may become necessary as a result of system/process changes within or impacting R&D, as outlined by the CEO and other directors.
• Degree in Science discipline
• 3-5 year’s experience in the culture and identification of microorganisms
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of microbiological media, preparation and use
• Ability to work methodically and follow SOPs
• Organisation and preparation of short technical reports
