Our client is an innovative specialist technical distributor who understand the needs of customers, uncovering solutions to problems and forging lasting relationships with suppliers. Technical and regulatory challenges inspire them to find entrepreneurial solutions for their customers. A thorough technical understanding enables them to repeatedly create technical and commercial value.

In the past 2.5 years the have established an Irish entity, with their office based in Athlone. They are now seeking to grow the team by bringing on a strong business development person in the area of Chemical sales into the Pharmaceutical sector across Ireland. A BSc/PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry is essential for this role. This person shall create and maintain a profitable and sustainable Business Unit in their Pharmaceutical ingredients division in Ireland, particularly for Custom Synthesis. The Business Manager will develop long term business relationships with Key Customers. The role holder will create unique and compelling sales propositions via the distribution of APIs, excipients, drug delivery systems and formulation ingredients. The Business Manager will identify and capitalise on new opportunities to grow their business unit. They will promote the opportunities for customers to work with our clients Innovation and Manufacturing services as part of their Ultimate Customer Value

If you are seeking an opportunity with an innovative & entrepreneurial organisation who are well-established with strong technical support already in place this would be a super opportunity. A minimum of 3+ years Pharma Chemicals sales experience is required with a strong knowledge of the Irish market. The successful person shall work within the Life Sciences Division covering Pharmaceuticals here in Ireland and report to the Division Manager/Managing Director.


Role/Responsibilities:

-Customer Sales (60 % time/ daily):

  • Develop c50 Key accounts
  • Build an opportunity bank of between 100 – 200 opportunities
  • Create 30 – 50 active sales projects
  • Drive a minimum £500k gross margin for the business unit
  • Manage our clients existing accounts portfolio
  • Establish strong, long-term client relationships
  • Communicate with major customers on a regular basis and respond to specific queries
  • Suggest solutions and innovative ideas to meet customer needs
  • Act as the liaison between key customers and internal teams
  • Identify and approach new potential strategic customers

-Manufacturer Relationships (30% time/ weekly):
  • Develop relationships with suppliers of all key product groups
  • Obtain marketing information
  • Ensure adequate stock
  • Communicate with supplier partners (reports, sales figures, market information, product development
  • Cultivate new supplier partners

-Training (10% time/ monthly)

Education/Experience/Skills:
  • A BSc/PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry is essential for this role.
  • 3+ years of Chemical Sales experience required at Business Manager level
  • Knowledge of the Irish pharmaceutical pipeline, specifically in API’s, excipients, drug delivery systems and formulation markets
  • Solid sales experience in a B2B environment
  • Proven experiences as a Business Manager/Account Manager in the Chemical Distribution Industry
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Business acumen to attract and develop new supplier partners
  • Experience of using CRM software and MS Office Solution seeking attitude
  • Demonstrates Drive, a Growth Mindset and a Team player approach
  • Excellent analytical and organisation skills
