Our client is an Irish manufacturer of Infection Control products who are committed to improving health. They supply their products into a range of sectors (Healthcare, Water & Agri) globally. Their Head office & manufacturing plant are based in Wexford. They are seeking a Business Development Manager for the Healthcare Division to join an established commercial team. This is a new position; B2B global role growing & managing Distributers across US, Middle East & Asia in particular. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Healthcare Business Development Manager shall successfully & profitablygrow the Healthcare sector sales to meet company objectives & goals. This person will be tasked with growing out the market across the US, Middel East & Asia. The role will involve collaborating with a global team and will require regular global travel.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Managing Director & Senior Leadership, develop, implement and manage the short-term and long-term strategic sales plan to increase geography, commercial revenues and profitability. Accountable for the delivery against agreed upon revenue targets and agreed gross margins.
  • Develop and build relationships within the infection prevention industry and water treatment industry within the designated geography.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients and initiation of new contracts and agreements with product distributors & hospital professionals as required.
  • Identify and analyse customer needs and market trends that can lead to the development of new products and opportunities. Provide market feedback regarding competitive offerings.
  • Work as a liaison with the R&D team and academic researchers for new product development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to maximize effectiveness in the market.
  • Upward effective communication to the senior management team, ensuring appropriate and timely communication.
  • Engage in continuous professional education to ensure you are at the forefront of knowledge on medical surface infection control and medical device sterilization.
  • Design and provide proficient training as required to distributors/supply partners, and new employees as required, under the sales philosophy.
  • Ensure customer data and status is entered, updated, and maintained in accordance with company directives.
  • Engage continually in initiatives to reduce costs and inefficiencies.
  • Maintain and develop our clients culture, values and reputation in the market and with clients, staff and partners.
Education, qualifications & experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business discipline. Higher degree in life/physical sciences is a distinct advantage.
  • 5 + years of industry related experience; chemicals, infection control, hospital sales.
  • Experience of partnering with global distributers & growing business in new countries a distinct advantage.
  • Commercially focused, with the ability to demonstrate proven impact and results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leading with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to cultivate long-term relationships with business partners, with an appreciation of cultural nuances.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to evaluate information to communicate concise trends within the market and competitor environment leading to effective sales solutions.
  • Willingness to network and collaborate proactively to forge business relationships and deliver projects across industry and academia.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Ability to operate flexible working hours to accommodate virtual meetings with colleagues or customers in the US, Europe and Asia.
  • Willingness to travel as required (40-50%).
